Lisa’s May favourites
Spring in the city feels like falling in love with a stranger you pass on your bike. It’s a burst of pure feeling and sunshine. Everyone crawls out of their apartments and, without saying a word, we all decide to live our best lives at the same time.
Spring has always been my favourite season. So here’s what I’m loving this May - from Amsterdam spots to spring staples I can’t stop wearing.
Fluère Not So B0,0ZY brunch at Kanarie Club
All the girlies in havermelkelite land are talking about it: zebra-striping. And no, it’s not a new fashion trend. It’s the art of mixing alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks on a night out. (Spoiler: chugging a glass of water after three rosés doesn’t count.)
Still figuring it out? Or just want a brunch that won’t wreck your weekend? On May 24th and June 21st, Kanarie Club teams up with Fluère for a bottomless brunch featuring no- and low-alcohol cocktails. Think botanical spritzes, palomas and more.
Zebra-stripe your way to a hangover-free summer. Reserve a spot here. Cheers!
Meller Lua glasses
Speaking of day drinking… it’s also the number one reason I’ve officially banned myself from buying designer sunglasses (RIP to my beloved Pradas, gone but not forgotten). Enter: Meller. While the Spanish brand’s most recognisable style might be the Nayah, I fell head over heels for the Lua. Feminine, flattering, and at €49? A no-brainer.
Reliving pop-up: 31st of May
As you might have heard (read: I won't shut up about it), I’m newly single. Which means I’m currently deep in my cleanse-the-house-of-his-energy era. Step one? Mini home makeover.
Perfect timing: Reliving is hosting its second circular pop-up in Amsterdam Noord on May 31st. The concept makes secondhand feel elevated, with a curated selection of vintage finds, showroom models, and returns from brands like Fést and &Klevering. Basically: interior heaven. Book your timeslot here.
New menu at Superlyan: 750 years of Amsterdam
There’s one cocktail bar I could practically cartwheel to from my front door, and lucky me, it also happens to be one of my all-time favorites. So when they drop a new menu, you better believe I’m first in line. Super Lyan’s drinks are always inspired by Amsterdam’s rich history and culture, so of course they had to mark the city’s 750th anniversary with something special.
The new menu features cocktails rooted in iconic moments, like the Great Fire of 1452 - translated into the ‘Great Fire Swizzle,’ with tequila, kimchi’d yoghurt, pear, almond and white chocolate. Or the ‘BNB Gibson,’ inspired by the Prinsenhof, made with gin, French onion fry vermouth and bread-and-butter bitters (gluten free friendly!).
My personal favorite? The Ballerina’s Fix. It’s named after the Felix Meritis building, which once hosted a ballet show during Napoleon’s visit. Vodka, gin, no-bay soda, a splash of mulberry - kind of like a flirty cousin of a French 75.
Feeling bold? Try the North Sea Boulevardier with cordyceps. Yes, those cordyceps. Like in The Last of Us. Just without the whole zombie apocalypse.
Fleur de l’Amaurigue rosé
Quite possibly my favorite spring ritual? That first glass of rosé on a sunny terrace. Since becoming a bit of a wine snob (thanks to my recent wine course… kind of kidding), I’ve made it my mission to hunt down the best rosés of the season. And honestly? This might be the one.
Fleur de l’Amaurigue is fresh and dry, with crisp grapefruit and soft peachy tones. Basically sunshine in a glass. The bottle itself is very cute (and let’s be honest, it's just good girl math to order the whole thing). It comes from an estate in Provence, bought by a Dutch family back in 1998. Fun fact: Fleur is actually the name of their daughter.
Naturally, I’ve added the vineyard to my travel list - because if they make rosé this good, I need to investigate the rest. Thoroughly.
